Serving for 23 years with New Mexico State Parks, Christy retired as the first archaeologist and first female Director of parks. She currently provides consulting services related to outdoor recreation and higher education, resource conservation, and agency planning and management. For over 17 years, she was an outdoor educator and park manager with New Mexico State Parks. Valle de Oro is the first urban refuge build from the ground up under the Urban Wildlife Conservation Program as part of a larger push by U.S. Fish and Wildlife to reach urban audiences and connect them to the important habitats and wildlife that the Service protects.
