OUTREACH<\/b><\/p>\n
Program \u2014<\/strong> The story of the Overmountain Victory NHT was presented through a virtual program on social media through collaboration between the OVTA, the USFS, Southeast Region National Parks Sites, and the South Carolina State Parks.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Celebration \u2014<\/strong> Battle of Kings Mountain commemorative march, to celebrate its 240th anniversary (along with the 40th anniversary of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail) was held with collaboration between the OVTA and the Kings Mountain National Military Park.<\/p>\n A small distanced ceremony was held with videos of the programs shared virtually for visitors to join.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Media \u2014<\/strong> The Overmountain Victory Trail Association has produced 18 of 45 planned videos to be shared with students and instructors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n PROTECTION<\/b><\/p>\n Development \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n OVTA began construction of a new visitor center at Lake James State Park in North Carolina, including informational panels about the trail along with access trails connecting it to the historic corridor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Three panels, telling the story of the OVNHT, were completed to overlook the historic route at the Yadkin Valley Heritage Center.<\/p>\n Grant \u2014<\/strong> Funding for construction of a pathway between CADA Park OVNHT Trailhead in Chesnee, SC & Cowpens, NC.<\/p>\n Maintenance <\/b>\u2014 NPS held its third Youth Conservation Corps trail maintenance program.<\/p>\n CAPACITY<\/b><\/p>\n Planning \u2014<\/strong> Master Plans for segments three & nine (out of ten) of the OVNHT were completed, with a contract made for development of a Master Plan for segment eight\u2014resulting in trail projects underway in at least six of the trail\u2019s segments.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Overmountain Victory Trail Association (OVTA) OUTREACH Program \u2014 The story of the Overmountain Victory NHT was presented through a virtual program on social media through collaboration between the OVTA, the USFS, Southeast Region National Parks Sites, and the South Carolina State Parks.\u00a0 Celebration \u2014 Battle… <\/p>\n
