This Trail is the longest National Scenic Trail in the National Trails System at approximately 4,800 miles in length. It includes treks through seasonally snow-covered prairies, deciduous forests, views of the Great Lakes, and long stretches next to clear, flowing, fresh water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Western Terminus:<\/strong> Lake Sakakawea, North Dakota<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Eastern Terminus:<\/strong> Green Mountains, Vermont at the intersection of the Long Trail and the <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/appalachian-national-scenic-trail-2\/\">Appalachian National Scenic Trail<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NCNST runs through eight states.
