Notable historic sites along this National Historic Trail include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/gewa\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Washington Birthplace National Monument,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/bost\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston National Historic Park, <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/vafo\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Valley Forge National Historic Park.<\/a> Discover <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/waro\/planyourvisit\/placestogo.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">additional points of interest along the trail here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Southern Terminus:<\/strong> Yorktown, Virginia near Colonial National Historic Park<\/p>\n<p><strong>Northern Terminus:<\/strong> North of Boston, Massachusetts near Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.<\/p>\n<p>The national historic trail traverses nine states\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/massachusetts\/\">Massachusetts<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/rhode-island\/\">Rhode Island<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/connecticut\/\">Connecticut<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/new-york\/\">New York<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/new-jersey\/\">New Jersey<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/pennsylvania\/\">Pennsylvania<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/delaware\/\">Delaware<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/maryland\/\">Maryland<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/virginia\/\">Virginia<\/a>\u2014plus the <a href=\"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/tag\/washington-dc\/\">District of Columbia<\/a>. The main trail and its multiple side routes pass through the major metropolitan areas in the Boston-New York-Washington megalopolis.
