{"id":2093,"date":"2015-01-04T14:08:15","date_gmt":"2015-01-04T20:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/?p=2093"},"modified":"2015-01-09T07:54:55","modified_gmt":"2015-01-09T13:54:55","slug":"year-in-review-continental-divide-trail-coalition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/year-in-review-continental-divide-trail-coalition\/","title":{"rendered":"Year in review &#8211; Continental Divide Trail Coalition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img style=\"float: right; margin: 0 0 25px 25px; width: 400px;\" src=\"http:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/unnamed.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Continental Divide Trail Coalition sent its thanks and New Year&#8217;s greetings to all its supporters.<!--more--> Here&#8217;s what they accomplished together over the last 12 months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">We&#8217;ve supported 160 volunteers, who contributed 1,444 volunteer days of work on the Continental Divide Trail, valued at $264,000<i>\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve built three new miles of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail, and maintained hundreds more<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve launched three new Gateway Communities in New Mexico:\u00a0 Silver City, Cuba, and Chama in New Mexico<i>\u00a0<\/i><\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve provided logistical support as partners with <i>Walk Off The War <\/i>for six combat veterans who thru-hiked the Continental Divide Trail this year as they transitioned from military service to civilian life.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve managed all of the GIS data for the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail for the USDA Forest Service.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve worked with agency partners and others to address water issues along the Trail in New Mexico.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve &#8220;Hiked the Hill&#8221; in Washington, and spoke up for protection of the remaining unprotected sections of the 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail.<\/li>\n<li>We have become the national voice of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. We&#8217;ve represented you in hundreds of different venues, and spoken up for the protection and proper management of the Trail.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve reached out to and met more than 3,000 people face-to-face, through presentations, awards, and events.\u00a0 And, we&#8217;ve upped our presence on-line, with nearly 6,000 Facebook likes and 350,000 visits to our website.<\/li>\n<li>We&#8217;ve expanded our Board of Directors, all of whom pay their own way, out of their own pockets, and then give more besides.
