{"id":9809,"date":"2019-02-24T19:49:21","date_gmt":"2019-02-25T01:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/?p=9809"},"modified":"2019-05-18T07:39:16","modified_gmt":"2019-05-18T12:39:16","slug":"old-spanish-nht-2018-highlights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pnts.org\/new\/old-spanish-nht-2018-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Spanish NHT: 2018 Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Old Spanish Trail Association (OSTA)<\/b><\/p>\n<h6><b>OUTREACH<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Mojave Chapter hosted its annual Old Spanish Trail Day October 5-7, 2018.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attended the PNTS training conference in Vancouver, WA, with representation from six OSTA board members and two staff.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>A 12-year effort, led by ex-Armijo Chapter president James Page, to list a 1776 Spanish inscription in the National Register of Historic Places came to fruition with the site\u2019s formal listing on August 17, 2018.<\/li>\n<li>Completed two Recreation and Development Strategies for the Mesa\/Delta Colorado OST and the Grand County Utah OST.<\/li>\n<li>The Descendants and Travelers on the Trail Chapter coordinated and compiled historic biographical profiles, accessible at www.oldspanishtrail.org.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><b>PROTECTION<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Certified three sites: John Wesley Powell River History Museum in Moab, UT, El Pueblo de Los Angeles, CA, and Juan Matias Sanchez Adobe in Montebello, CA.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Made an agreement with Southern Utah University to archive OSTA materials through a grant from the Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><b>CAPACITY<\/b><\/h6>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hired Lynn Brittner as OSTA Executive Director and Kitty Nicholason as Designer\/Editor of \u201cSpanish Traces.\u201d Appointed Dennis Brown, Vice President, and Melinda Arviso-Ciocco, New Mexico State Director, to the OSTA board.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Unless otherwise indicated, all material in Pathways Across America is public domain.
