From rugged mountain paths to historic routes that shaped our nation, the Bureau of Land Management’s National Scenic and Historic Trails (NSHT) Program invites visitors to explore nearly 6,000 miles of trails across 15 states. Significant portions of 19 National Scenic and Historic Trails cross BLM-managed public lands, and of those the agency administers or co-administers three National Historic Trails—encompassing more historic trail miles than any other federal agency. BLM also supports five trail-related visitor centers in four states, offering excellent opportunities for education and discovery.
