Here is suggested modification of the text - Formerly known as the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation, the Lewis & Clark Trail Alliance inspires people to discover, experience, and steward the stories, landscapes, and enduring legacy of the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Through education, heritage tourism, conservation, and community engagement, the Alliance connects people with one of America's most significant journeys while promoting appreciation for the diverse cultures, peoples, and places that shaped the Expedition.
For more than 50 years, the Alliance and its chapters have advanced scholarship, created engaging educational programs, and encouraged a more complete telling of the Expedition—honoring the contributions and perspectives of Tribal Nations, York, Sacagawea, and the many individuals whose stories are woven into the Trail's history.

The Alliance collaborates with federal, state, Tribal, nonprofit, and private partners to preserve, interpret, and promote the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail for future generations. Established in 1969, the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization doing business as the Lewis & Clark Trail Alliance.
