PNTS 2021 Silent Auction Rules

  1. In order to participate in bidding, each participant must agree to the rules and regulations presented here before the event. By registering to participate in the silent auction, you are stating your agreement with these terms and conditions.
  2. The Partnership for the National Trails System reserves the right to add or withdraw auction items, with or without notice, to or from the auction.
  3. A valid bid is considered made by clicking the “Bid” button associated with a desired item, typing in a valid bid amount that adheres to the increment guidelines, entering payment information, and clicking “Place bid”. 
  4. Minimum bid increments vary and are set based on the current bid for each item. Bids may not be altered or withdrawn once they have been placed.
  5. By placing a bid on an item, the bidder assumes responsibility for all platform fees and shipping fees associated with that item (shipping fees vary between $5 to $25 per package except for Atlas Guides which do not incur shipping costs) in addition to the amount stated in their bid unless otherwise noted.
  6. The silent auction will close at 10:00 PM EST on November 7, 2021. Additional bids will not be accepted or valid after the silent auction item has been declared as “closed”.
  7. The highest qualifying bid (i.e., a bid which complies with these auction rules) at the closing time is the winning bid.
  8. Once the silent auction is declared “closed,” the winner for each item will be notified by email. Items will be mailed to the address specified by the bidder at the time the bid was placed.
  9. Valid credit or debit card information must be entered at the time a bid is placed. Payment for winning bids will be processed at the time the auction is “closed”.
  10. Any items left unpaid, or if payment is unable to be processed for a winning bid, the winning bidder will be contacted within three (3) business days to update their payment information. If payment is not received within five (5) business days, the item will become the property of the Partnership for the National Trails System (PNTS) and may be resold or redistributed by PNTS at the sole discretion of the organization. Any proceeds from the sale of such an item will go to benefit PNTS.
  11. All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be permitted. No item is redeemable for cash. The Partnership for the National Trails System is not responsible for items lost in transit once mailed.
  12. Items may differ slightly in appearance (e.g., color, etc.) from their appearance in auction photos. All items sold are sold “as is”.
  13. Each person bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising directly or indirectly from use of items won at the auction or from participating in the auction itself the Partnership for the National Trails System, their elected and appointed officials, members and employees, the auction company and its agents and employees, the event organizers, sponsors, and/or volunteers connected with the auction.
  14. Some items may be subject to age restrictions. Any age restriction will be disclosed in the description of the silent auction item or package. A valid ID may be required to claim items listed as age restricted.
  15. The auction item value listed is an estimate of Fair Market Value (FMV). Items have not been appraised unless so noted. The Partnership for the National Trails System is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Any bid over the value of the item is considered a donation and may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify the amount of deduction.
