Bill Buck

Bill BuckBill Buck is a writer from San Francisco who has walked one or more segments of all 30 National Scenic and Historic Trails. His upcoming book is a guide to the National Trails System. His first book, Finding the Real City, is an introduction to San Francisco’s authentic neighborhoods.

With 20 years of experience in internet technologies, web design and multimedia projects, he has developed ways to use technology while still prioritizing spending quality time in the outdoors.

Buck was a member of the production team of 24 Hours In Cyberspace, a project that explored how countries across the world interact with the Internet. The resulting book and website were inducted into the Smithsonian Museum.

Buck has given workshops at the University of San Francisco, Stanford University, and schools throughout Northern California. He was an instructor at the symposium “Planning for Sustainable Tourism” in Vietnam, developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to assist communities in ecologically-based tourism.

He has received awards from the National Park Service and Environmental Protection Agency for his leadership efforts and was a recipient of the Presidential Environmental Youth Award.
