Brendan Mysliwiec, Director of Federal Policy and Legislation, Appalachian Trail Conservancy 

Brendan has served as the federal policy director for ATC since 2019 and previously worked for American Rivers and the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs. Brendan’s advocacy work focuses on public lands management and operations, supporting land protection and stewardship, responsible energy infrastructure development, and the public-private partnerships that underpin the National Trails System.

 

 

 

 

 

L Fisher, Trail Policy Program Manager, Continental Divide Trail Coalition

Photo of L FisherL Fisher is a community organizer and conservationist based in the Northern Rockies, currently working as the Trail Policy Manager for the Continental Divide Trail Coalition.They received dual degrees in Philosophy and Political Science before earning their Masters in Political Science from Indiana University. Before moving out west, they worked on community organizing and local advocacy throughout Indiana and parts of Texas. L’s passion for environmental policy eventually took them to Montana, where they have worked as an organizer and outdoor educator along the Rocky Mountain Front. When they are not working, L is dedicated to being an avid reader, amateur chef, and hiking enthusiast.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tyler Ray, Senior Director for Programs and Advocacy, American Hiking Society

Photo of Tyler RayTyler leads American Hiking’s advocacy efforts before Congress and the federal government and oversees the organization’s volunteer work nationwide. Tyler joined American Hiking in 2018, after nearly seven years with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) where he led federal advocacy efforts on voting rights, disability rights, and humane border enforcement. 

Originally from California, Tyler began hiking in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s and the Stanislaus National Forest. He’s been fortunate to experience trails across the country, with favorites including the Hanakapiai Trail in Kauai, the Grand Canyon’s Bright Angel Trail, and state park and national forest trails throughout his adoptive home in Virginia.

When not hiking the hill advocating on behalf of AHS members, Tyler spends time with his husband and their dog, Kona, looking for their next outdoor adventure.
