Don Owen has spent his entire career working in conservation. From 1985 to 2008, he worked for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy and the National Park Service on the Appalachian Trail, where he specialized in planning, designing, protecting, and managing the 250,000-acre protective corridor for the Trail. He then served as Executive Director of the Land Trust of Virginia from 2008 to 2014. Mr. Owen presently serves as a Circuit Rider for the Land Trust Alliance, providing services to small or all-volunteer land trusts, and as a land protection consultant to a variety of land trusts and trail organizations.
