Julie Judkins, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Director of Education and Outreach
By working to foster a culture of inclusion at Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC), Julie’s work aspires to cultivate greater strength and resilience within and beyond the organization as she works to manage and protect the Appalachian Trail and its greater ecosystem of communities and people. As the Director of Education and Outreach, Julie is responsible for developing and directing the ATC’s networks of new people and new partners through initiatives and programs, and ensures staff and partners reflect, invite, and welcome all to the Trail. Julie has been with ATC since 2004. Prior to ATC, Julie served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Armenia, and also worked with Hurricane Island Outward Bound in Key Largo, an at-risk program for youth. She has a BA in Communications from North Carolina State University and a Masters of Environmental Management through Duke’s Environmental Leadership program at the Nicholas School of Environment.
