Morgan Sommerville was hired by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy in 1983 to do Appalachian Trail (AT) acquisition and route planning, and volunteer training. This evolved into his current role of Regional Director. He has worked with the five GA, NC & TN AT clubs and the staff of the six Region 8 AT forests and RO and WO staff to plan scores of AT relocations and hundreds of acquisitions to improve and protect the AT. He has continued to work with them to manage the AT greenway appropriately.
