A breath of fresh air – the National Trails System

Now more than ever we need our trails, natural areas and public outdoor spaces. Together we can build and improve accessibility and put the national scenic and historic trails on the map and into your home!

During stressful times, it is well known that a breath of fresh air can help reduce stress and even physical symptoms. Don’t overlook the national scenic and historic trails that may be nearby. A visit to a trail can enhance your health and well being. Your gift today of $50 will help the Partnership for the National Trails System (PNTS) expand the diversity of trail experiences including virtual ones.

The New England National Scenic Trail traverses the 800-acre Penwood State Park just west of Hartford, CT. Let go of your stress, following the trail amongst mature growth trees, wildflowers, and boulders. Side trails and old roads help link the trail and create loop options. And of course, pause to take in the view.

For an immediate experience of the serenity and inspiration of this trail, check out this video by Ben Cosgrove, New England Trail composer-in-residence (2017-2018) and PNTS Trail Apprentice (2018), “Moving Through Landscapes: Music on the New England Trail.”

For up to date closures and information regarding the Coronavirus/COVID-19 and the New England Trail, check this website.

No matter when you get there, a scenic or historic trail experience can improve your health and well being. Thank you for supporting the Partnership for the National Trails System and the national trails with a gift of $50 today!

With gratitude,

Liz Wessel
